Opening Ceremony of the E-Learning Course on Orthopedic and Trauma at Military Hospital 175

On the Afternoon of November 02 2020, Military Hospital 175 and the JW LEE Center for Global Medicine – Seoul National University (Republic of Korea) hosted the Opening Ceremony of the E-Learning Course on Orthopedic and Trauma, which will be taught by Korean professors.

SrCol. Dr. Nguyen Viet Cuong, Deputy Director of Military Hospital 175; Heads of various Departments of the Orthopedics and Trauma Center/Military Hospital 175; and doctors-attendees of the course represented Military Hospital 175 at the Ceremony. Representing Military Hospital 175’s Korean partners were Prof. Woong-han Kim – Director of JW LEE Center for Global Medicine; Prof. Joo-han Oh of Bundang Hospital, who is a leading expert on shoulder surgery and sports medicine, also present were the staff of other departments and agencies from Seoul National University (Republic of Korea)

The online course on trauma intends to systematically provide basic to advanced surgical knowledge and skills, as well as trauma care for patients. Taught by experts and professors from JW LEE Center for Global Medicine and Bundang Hospital – two of Military Hospital 175’ strategic partners – the course will 08 weeks, with 21 modules. Topics include Shoulders, Knees and Spine. During the course, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss difficult cases with their lecturers. So as to allow attendees with the most convenient learning environment possible, the host has provided the course with Vietnamese language support.

In his speech, SrCol. Dr. Nguyen Viet Cuong stressed the importance of the E-Learning course in the next stage of development for Military Hospital 175 in general, and for the Orthopedics and Trauma Center/Military Hospital 175 in particular. SrCol. Cuong also reminded the attendees to study with all seriousness and eagerness, and to keep pace with the course’s timeline, so that they would be able to implement their new knowledge in practice, thereby improving the quality and efficiency of Military Hospital 175’s healthcare service.

Military Hospital 175 and JW LEE Center for Global Medicine has been close partners in training and scientific research since 2013. The training project on Trauma was put into motion in 2015, as a source of training for the staff of Military Hospital 175’s Orthopedics and Trauma Center. Courses held in Korea typically last three months, providing training for 3 to 4 doctors each. Up until now, there has been 15 such courses, which trained doctors specialized in General Surgery, Emergency Trauma, Spins, Burn and Microsurgery. In 2018 and 2019, two workshops were jointly held in Vietnam and Korea.

In 2020, because of COVID-19, training courses in Korea are suspended and online trainings are put in place to meet present situations.
